Technology allows behavior that would not occur in other settings, because one may bully another person through a text message, instant messaging, and through social networking sites. These internet users act in ways that are not acceptable in face to face society; in fact they hide behind their computer, and inflict more pain without the fear of being seen or even caught. There are hate group websites but I think children are being exposed to too much technology these days. A parent’s role in reducing the problem is to monitor their children, and have a close eye on what they are doing while using the internet. I have learned so much from reading problems associated with online bullying; that I know I will keep a constant eye on my child and students whenever they are online.

This website is very interesting! It is about a lady named Lori Drew who is fifty years old, and has been accused of cyberbullying. Drew was accused of violating terms of service to the most common social group MySpace. Her cyberbullying was considered influential in a thirteen year old girl’s suicide. This website can help others realize what cyberbullying can do before it takes that life of a teenager.

What a great website for teens to visit. This website is about two close friends who ended up their friendship due to cyberbullying. One of the girls dreaded to get online because she was bullied so much. This poor girl had been put down, and rumors were being spread by her best friend. The bullying teenagers can do to one another may scar a teenager for life. This story may help others to open their eyes into reality.

This is another great website that parents should take use. This website explains what sexting is, constant messaging, and digital disrespect. Being up to date with technology, teenagers have gone too far; some teenagers take nude pictures of them and send it to their so called loved one. They do not realize that once the picture is sent it is on the internet for all to see it. A teenager should be part of the solution and not the problem; they should also support one another and seek help if they happen to know of someone being cyberbulling.

In her workshop she states that the children who are the most popular ones are the ones who tend to bully other children in their age group. She also states that most often it is girls who use the internet as a form of a social networking, gossip, and spread rumors. Parents should be active users of technologies that children are using. Parents should always talk to their child about what is appropriate, and what is not. This article states that sexting has caused many relationships to end, and may even become a victim of bullying. Overall, parents should always be aware of the technology that is available to their children.

This website grabbed my attention! This is a news report about a group of students from a Massachusetts high school who were bullying a classmate who later committed suicide. The victim was bullied through many ways such as, text messages, social networking sites, and in person. The girls who were bullying were expelled from school, and the case was to be taken more seriously. This shows that cyberbullying has caused many suicides, and may have caused teenagers to have a low self esteem. This has opened the eyes of many parents.
